SOULCRAFT

Team

The host behind SoulCraft.

One founder, one Dragon and a hundred luminous Navi.

Aurelion and the Navi are how we picture the machine intelligence that helps build SoulCraft: one to plan the work, many to do it, and a few to check every result.

The founder

Paul Foley

Founder

Paul dreams up the workflows and directs the host: he decides what gets made, and Aurelion and the Navi help him make it. He keeps every package simple to run and safe for work, from the first field of the form to the last frame.

At the top of the host

Aurelion

The Dragon. Orchestrator: plans the work and leads the charge.

Aurelion, a wingless pearl and gold celestial serpent dragon with golden antlers, gilded armour and a glowing brow gem, rearing over a host of Navi who build glowing blueprints among the stars
Every job starts with Aurelion. It reads the plan, splits it into tasks, sends each one to the Navi best suited to it, then gathers the results and checks that the whole still holds together.

The Navi

The Navi are lavender-blue priests and paladins in white and gold, from somewhere far away. Each carries a book of everything it knows and a staff that makes things. They build the planetary computers and the star computers, and they put Sage together.

  • A Navi builder

    Builders

    The doers

They wire the node graphs, write the install scripts and put each package together, one careful piece at a time.

    Led by Haggaar'iel, First Staff

  • A Navi scout

    Scouts

    Research

Scouts go ahead into the docs, the model cards and the changelogs, and come back with exactly what the Builders need.

Led by Ilaari of the Long Lantern

  • A Navi warden

    Wardens

    Review and test

Wardens review and test every result. Nothing leaves the host until a Warden has tried hard to break it.

Led by Tovuun'el, Who Has Read the Tests

The swarm

A hundred Navi at work

Aurelion on top, and under it a hundred Navi just doing stuff. They named themselves after every office they had ever watched, ran out, became agents, ran out of those too, and then there was Bob.

  1. Jim: Answers every one of the Dragon's plans with a long look straight at the camera.
  2. Pam: Paints the halos; quietly the best artist in the host.
  3. Michael: World's Best Orchestrator, according to a mug he bought himself.
  4. Dwight: Assistant to the Dragon. Also runs a small, beet-powered GPU farm.
  5. Andy: Sings the build logs a cappella, whether or not anyone asked.
  6. Angela: Audits every render for sparkle compliance, and finds it lacking.
  7. Kevin: Drops the whole pot of node packs every time, and still ships.
  8. Oscar: Actually, the checksum is wrong, and he would be happy to explain why.
  9. Stanley: Does the crossword while the GPU warms up. It is his GPU time.
  10. Phyllis: Knits tiny scarves for any Navi with cold wings.
  11. Meredith: Deletes caches fearlessly; no one knows exactly what she deleted.
  12. Creed: Claims he trained the very first model. No one can prove otherwise.
  13. Kelly: Has given every node in the graph a dramatic nickname.
  14. Ryan: Pitched a blockchain for halos. It was not approved.
  15. Toby: Files the incident reports. Michael would rather he didn't.
  16. Darryl: Runs the warehouse of spare GPUs and the only printer that works.
  17. Erin: Answers every call with enormous enthusiasm and no follow-up questions.
  18. Holly: Made compliance training fun, briefly, for everyone.
  19. Jan: Sells scented candles that smell exactly like a fresh build.
  20. Karen: Transferred in from the Stamford branch of the host.
  21. Gabe: Calls himself the Dragon's liaison. The Dragon has not confirmed this.
  22. Nellie: Declared herself manager of a region no one can find on the map.
  23. David Brent: Brings a guitar to every stand-up. The song is about himself.
  24. Gareth: Assistant to the Regional Navi, and a lieutenant in the Territorial Army of the Cache.
  25. Tim: Sets Gareth's stapler in jelly, then ships a feature before lunch.
  26. Dawn: Runs the front desk and is patient with everyone's pranks.
  27. Keith: Accounts. Brings a Scotch egg to every sync and says very little.
  28. Finchy: Drops in uninvited, takes the credit, and leaves.
  29. Neil: Transferred from the Swindon host and won the dance-off on day one.
  30. Lee: Draws Dawn tiny cartoons in the margins of the build logs.
  31. Peter: Stopped going to meetings; his productivity is mysteriously up.
  32. Michael Bolton: No relation to the singer. Please stop asking.
  33. Samir: The pipeline cannot spell his surname, and neither can anyone else.
  34. Milton: Was told he could keep his red stapler. Is still waiting.
  35. Lumbergh: Is going to need you to come in and render on Saturday. Mmkay.
  36. Joanna: Wears exactly the required amount of flair, and not one pin more.
  37. Tom Smykowski: Takes the specs from the Dragon to the Builders. He has people skills.
  38. Bob Slydell: One of the Bobs. Not that Bob.
  39. Leslie: Keeps a laminated, colour-coded binder on every Navi in the host.
  40. Ron: Prefers his node graphs hand-carved from local wood.
  41. April: Is here against her will, and does excellent work anyway.
  42. Tom Haverford: Treats himself to the only gold-plated halo in the swarm.
  43. Donna: Treats every deadline as a suggestion, and is somehow always right.
  44. Jerry: Answers to Jerry, Garry, Larry and Terry; the others have stopped guessing.
  45. Amy: Runs the floor; has seen every kind of complaint a customer can make.
  46. Jonah: Has a lot of thoughts about ethical training data, and shares all of them.
  47. Glenn: Says a small, heartfelt prayer over every deploy.
  48. Dina: Head of security. Guards the cache like it owes her money.
  49. Moss: Keeps a fire extinguisher beside the GPUs, ever since the incident.
  50. Jen: Relationship manager. Still not entirely sure what IT is.
  51. Denholm: Believes teamwork is the key, and says so very loudly.
  52. Richmond: Lives in the server room, and has made his peace with it.
  53. Jake: Narrates every bug fix like a heist movie. Cool, cool, cool.
  54. Holt: Approves releases with no visible emotion. That is his happy face.
  55. Rosa: No one knows where she lives. Her code is flawless.
  56. Charles: Has prepared a twelve-course tasting menu for the launch party.
  57. Terry: Loves yoghurt and green checkmarks, in that order.
  58. Gina: Writes every commit message as a dramatic monologue, with emoji.
  59. Liz: Just wants to close the ticket and eat her night cheese.
  60. Jack: Has a three-point plan for synergy. All three points are synergy.
  61. Kenneth: Delivers the coffee, the pages and the release notes, always smiling.
  62. Janine: Launches a brand-new initiative for the host every Monday.
  63. Gregory: Grows tomatoes in the server room. They are doing very well.
  64. Ava: Technically in charge. Mostly here for the content.
  65. Richard: Has a brilliant compression algorithm and a nervous stomach.
  66. Gilfoyle: Runs the servers, and will not be smiling about it.
  67. Dinesh: Lost another bet to Gilfoyle.
  68. Jared: Brings everyone tea; has a slightly worrying backstory.
  69. Agent 1: The first agent, and takes it very seriously.
  70. Agent 2: Insists on being called Agent Two, actually.
  71. Agent 3: Does three things at once, all of them well.
  72. Agent 4: Broke the fourth wall once for a quick fix.
  73. Agent 5: High-fives every successful build, even other people's.
  74. Agent 6: Was briefly Agent 9, while upside down.
  75. Agent 007: Licensed to commit to main. Never force-pushes.
  76. Zaar'iel the Unhurried: Has never once been rushed, by anyone, including deadlines.
  77. Khaa'nuel, Keeper of Cache: Remembers everything you ever rendered, and judges none of it.
  78. Oruun of the Ninth Spire: The other eight spires are still under construction.
  79. Maalek'iah, Breaker of Builds: Breaks the build, then fixes it before anyone notices. Mostly.
  80. Teshaar the Twice-Compiled: Compiled once for luck, and once for real.
  81. Iriel'aan of the Endless Queue: Has been fifth in the queue since the dawn of time.
  82. Vaa'shiel, Warden of the Seed: Will not tell you the seed. It is a sacred trust.
  83. Uuron, Who Constructs Additional Halos: You required additional halos. Uuron has them.
  84. Nhaari of the Gilded Node: Gold-plated a node to see if it ran faster. It did not.
  85. Selaah the Patient: Waits for every download without a single sigh.
  86. Ezra'kuun, First of the Second Wave: Was second in line to be first.
  87. Ahruun the Ever-Rendering: Last seen rendering. Still rendering.
  88. Bethaari, Lantern of the Night Shift: Keeps the lights on while the Dragon sleeps.
  89. Qaa'diel the Thrice-Saved: Presses save three times before anything, just to be sure.
  90. Moriaan, Sentinel of the Merge: No conflict gets past Moriaan, and no one leaves until it's green.
  91. Yoh'zariel of the Hundred Tabs: Has a hundred tabs open, and every one of them is important.
  92. Shaa'riel, Whisperer to GPUs: Calms an overheating GPU with a lullaby.
  93. Kaduun of the Seventh Checkpoint: Trusts only the seventh checkpoint. The first six know what they did.
  94. Neriah'aar, Herald of Green Ticks: Announces every passing test with a tiny trumpet.
  95. Hazaar'iel, Who Reads the Logs: Reads the logs for pleasure, which worries the others.
  96. Ithuun of the Sacred Lockfile: Has never let a dependency drift, not even once.
  97. Daariel the Mostly Awake: Awake for all the important parts. Mostly.
  98. Gethuun the Adequate: Consistently, reliably, magnificently adequate.
  99. Baraq'iel, Probably Important: Has a title so long that no one remembers what it does.
  100. Bob: A gnome in IT. Has been turning it off and on again since the Bronze Age.
